About Gregory May
Gregory May graduated from the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Clown College in 1990 and traveled with them for three years. Since leaving Ringling, he has performed in over five hundred cities and on five continents. He has been on the Late Show with David Letterman, in national Visa commercials, and at the White House with Sherri Lewis and Lamb Chop. Locally, you may have seen him performing at Toby's Dinner Theater, the Maryland Renaissance Festival, with the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and as a member of the Comedy Sportz Improv Farm Team in Arlington, VA. He has coached numerous youth circuses including summer camps with Howard County and the City of Greenbelt and large productions with the Berkshire Children’s Circus in Pittsfield, MA and Living Classrooms of Baltimore, MD. He has also taught physical comedy, circus skills, and makeup workshops at the Maryland High School Theater Festival, the National High School Theater Festival, Port Discovery in Baltimore, MD, the Kennedy Center, and at the Center Ring Circus School, which he founded in 2012. In 2017, he combined his Bachelor's Degree in Biology and his love of teaching circus to create his Circus Science Elementary School program, which has now been seen by thousands of children in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
He met his wife Sheryl, a fellow circus performer, while on the road with Ringling, and they recently celebrated 25 years of wedded silliness. |
